UAE insurance rules you should know
- Third party liability insurance is legally mandatory in the UAE (Federal Traffic Law No. 21 of 1995).
- Driving without valid insurance carries an AED 500 fine, 4 black points and a 7-day vehicle impound.
- Policies run for 13 months — including a one-month grace period for RTA registration.
- Comprehensive policies state the minimum deductible and agency repair terms in the policy schedule.
- Once a vehicle is over 3 years old, garage repair replaces agency repair as standard.
- All premiums are subject to 5% VAT, which is shown included in your quote.
